Our Story
Family-run, Jamaican at heart, made in the UK since 1998.
The great real thing
Port Royal began in a small North London kitchen in 1998, when our founders — a Kingston-born couple missing the patties of home — started baking for family, then friends, then a queue of neighbours who'd heard there was something worth trying round the back of the shop.
A quarter-century on, not much has changed about the way we cook. We still laminate our pastry with real butter. We still blend our spices in-house from whole allspice, thyme and scotch bonnet. We still cook every filling from scratch. It takes longer. It costs more. It's the only way to make a patty that tastes like it should.
Today Port Royal is a family-run British food business supplying the country's biggest supermarkets, hundreds of independent Caribbean grocers, restaurants and street food operators, and partners across Europe — all from our UK bakery, all still made the same way.
